The weekend is here!

Whew! The weekend has arrived — and so has my vacation! I'm off to Boston, Ireland, then Paris, a wonderful vacation marked by two fabulous celebrations: two of my best friends' weddings. Looking forward to sharing details of my trip when I get back. In the meantime, I wish you a wonderful weekend ahead. Here, to get it started right, a few happy posts from around the web:

Fall accessory overhaul

September always inspires a bit of a closet overhaul, don't you think? My big task this fall is finding ways to re-purpose old — but beloved — pieces of clothing in my closet. I started by bringing a full armload of clothes to the tailor. A good first step, I think!

Next, I'm focusing on accessories. Some advice I received from a good friend who works in fashion: I need to define the signature pieces of jewelry I wear each day. She recommended I think about pieces — old and new — that have meaning. The ones that are easy and comfortable to throw on in a rush. The gorgeous necklace above, designed by Rachel over at Elephantine, fits the bill. It's so simple and pretty. I've only had it for about a week, but I can't seem to take it off. :)

Do you have a signature piece of jewelry that you wear each day?

See Diane Keaton play

I adore Diane Keaton. Adore her. The images above —taken by celebrity photographer Rufan Afanador — perfectly capture her spirit, her energy, her sense of fun. Now that I've seen them, I want to mimic her mood and kick off my shoes, twirl and laugh. It's a great reminder to find time for joy, even if you're in the middle of a crazy busy week! :)

More Diane here, here and here.

Sweet thought

Thanks Sarah for sharing these amazing words of wisdom, courtesy of Cecil Beaton. The perfect sentiment to keep close to your heart as we kick off another week. :)

Secret single behavior

Remember when Carrie Bradshaw first coined this term? Shannon Darrough over at I Love Your Crazy reminded me of the importance of Secret Single Behavior: the stuff you do that no one knows about that feels absolutely great. With Matt out of town this past weekend, I decided to dedicate my time off to my own SSB. I read magazines and a book; I got a manicure, and gave myself an at-home facial on (gasp!) a Saturday night. I even watched one of my favorite Jennifer Aniston movies, Picture Perfect, while eating Haribo gummy bears, my guilty pleasure sweet treat.

What are your favorite secret single behaviors? :)

I (still) love Steve Martin

Ask any of my friends and they'll tell you: one of my most major celebrity crushes has always been Steve Martin. Ever since I saw him in Father of the Bride, when I was in — wait for it — second grade, I just couldn't resist his comedic talent and charm. :)

Fast forward to now, and I'm much more up to speed on the full range of his work. I've read his books, listened to his music, and seen many, many more of his movies. But last night, I will admit, was a movie first: I finally saw Steve Martin in The Jerk. On the big screen. In Brooklyn. I loved it.

What's your favorite Steve Martin flick? Do you have a comedy hero? Do tell!

September Page: A toast!

Wow, September already! This summer sure did fly by. What do you love most about this month? There are so many lovely things about September—the first sight of foliage, the arrival of sweater weather, the return of fall TV. The air is crisper, and the evenings are a bit darker, which makes everything feel so cozy, and warm.

What are you most looking forward to this month?
