Hurricane Survival Guide: Irene

Are you safe and sound following Hurricane Irene? So strange to watch New York come to a stand-still. Thought I'd post a few pics to show how some friends and I weathered the storm. We started the day with brunch at the Ainesworth, and a mimosa toast to Irene. The tricky part was getting home after — no subway service at all!
As the winds became more blustery and the rain picked up, we decided it made sense to tape up our windows, just in case.
At long last, Matt had his chance! Since we were apartment-bound, he rented Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom so that I could watch it for the first time.
After the movie, the cooking began — Matt whipped up a delicious chicken dish, while I prepared the asparagus.
Finally, we broke out the scrabble. Despite many word challenges from my opponents — Erin, Brian and Matt — I actually went on to win the game. What did you do to pass the time during the storm? Hope everyone else stayed safe (and entertained) during Irene!

  1. The pasta looks yummy! And I can't believe you've made it to almost 29 (?) without seeing Temple of Doom!

  2. Yeah, it's definitely pathetic! I finally saw it and that's what counts right?

It was a good thing we had it on DVD — it seemed everyone was indoors streaming movies from Netflix!
