Honeycomb mirror decor

In my Brooklyn apartment, there's a narrow indented corner in our living room. I moved into this place almost two years ago, but I still haven't figured out how to use the space—until now. I discovered this honeycomb mirror idea on Pinterest and love it. How cool would it be to create my own hexagon arrangement? Plus, mirrors are always a great way to make a room feel larger, a trick that's ideal in a New York-sized apartment. :) Here, a couple more examples of this fun idea...
This pattern is lots of fun—and I love how the honeycombs are placed right next to a full size mirror. Double the reflection!
The play on metallics is great in this pic. The copper and silver look beautiful together and add an elegant and modern touch to this all-white room.

OK, so what do you think? Have you ever experimented with a honeycomb mirror design?

PS: Where to buy cheap honeycomb mirrors. Hint: It's the store that has it all.

Party Page: It's in the details!

There are so many ways to make a celebration special, but I love the look of these photo backdrops above. Such a clever way to personalize your next soirée! Each one is a bold centerpiece next to the food and drink, and seems guaranteed to inspire reminiscing as guests come and go.

What are some of the more memorable parties you've attended? What details stood out to you the most?

Reinventing my fridge

Do you decorate your refrigerator door? After seeing the ideas above on PureWow and A Cup of Jo, I started to think about my own fridge's decor. Right now, mine is covered with lots of magnets collected from over the years — some from the Guggenheim and the Met, others that I made myself using old movie stubs and Red Sox tickets. Each magnet holds up something important like a friend's wedding invite, or a baby announcement or clever postcard I want to save.

But the ideas above are inspiring — I love the chalkboard, and the penguins, too. And Joanna's fridge with classic pics of JFK and Audrey Hepburn? How sweet!

Tell me — what's on your fridge at home?

Wallpaper accents at home

Are you partial to wallpaper or paint? Whenever I've moved apartments, I've opted to prime, paint and trim, but after seeing the perfectly wallpapered walls in the launch issue of Heart Home magazine, it's decided: I'm ready to switch things up. These photos in particular feature the home of the duo behind the British brand Mini Moderns. This couple definitely knows how to make wallpaper work! I'm obsessed — and plan to place an order from their site very soon. :)

Tulip wraps

Since spring is just around the corner, I have to ask: what is your favorite flower? I love tulips — red ones, yellow ones, purple ones, pink ones. They are so fragrant and pretty, don’t you think? :) And how gorgeous do they look wrapped up in brown paper? I love this idea from Tokketok to wrap a bouquet of fresh blooms with a message, or a painted-on design. Quite a clever way to personalize the next bouquet of flowers you give!

A starry starry night

How clever is this design idea from Color Me Katie? She was looking for a way to let natural light into her bathroom without creating a peep show for her neighbors and voila! A brilliant solution to the problem. I especially love how the stars look at night — what a peaceful room to unwind in at the end of a long day.

By Design: The Bathroom

Think about all the postcards and mementos you've been saving over the years. Now, consider the design idea above from Annemarie Buckley of Scout's Honor Co. I love the way she turns her bathroom walls into art at her Vermont-based home. The collage effect is so cool and entertaining—if your guests start spending more time in the bathroom, you'll know why!

For tips on how to style your own design wall, watch this video here.

Chalkboard notes

There's something so inviting about a chalkboard in the home. I love that it's a guaranteed spot to jot down handwritten notes, to-do lists, and colorful doodles while you're on the phone. My roommate and I use the chalkboard outside our kitchen to write down recipe notes, and track how many trips we make to the gym each week. There's nothing like a public guilt trip on a chalkboard to whip you into shape! But truly, there's something sweet and artistic about soon-to-be erased words. It would be cool to keep a photo record of what is written there each week! What do you think – would you hang a chalkboard in your home?

Closet re-design

Talk about closet envy! I love the crisp lines and clutter-free arrangement of this design. Channeling my 'new year, new you' attitude, I've decided it's time for me to start (and finish) my own closet overhaul. Because how zen-like would it be to begin each morning gazing into a closet like the one above? Oh, organization. A girl can dream!

Artful rooms

J'adore the art of a well-curated wall collage! What a great way to display the range of treasures in your personal collection of art. These rooms are interesting and ornate — definitely a design detail I aspire to have in my own home one day. What about you? Do you like this look?

European flair

These days, I love anything and everything to do with home decor. Even the tiniest detail has a major impact on the look and feel of a small (read: New York-sized apartment) space. For example, these black and white prints from LCYBlog's European Series on Etsy. I'm obsessed. I agree with the seller — I think they look best grouped together. What do you think?

DIY Painting: The Bathroom

Remember my idea to repaint my bathroom last weekend? Here is the final result, with a couple of before and after shots mixed in. How gorgeous is this new shower curtain from Anthropologie? The cherry blossom paint hue makes the bathroom extra girly, but I think it's the perfect match! What do you think?

Designing Woman

The JONSBO OROD table lamp at IKEA.

While the "slushpocalypse" continues on outside, there's nothing like a little DIY home decorating to fill up a weekend indoors! Following last Sunday’s cable re-wiring, and the prior Saturday’s painting party and Target shopping spree, this weekend, I’m focusing on the next step: lighting! Check out these table lamps from IKEA that I’m considering for the end tables next to our couch. Cute, right? Our apartment redesign has taken on a more modern motif so the clear glass design fits right in.

Other apartment must-haves that I've discovered along the way? Take a peek:

This Red Poppy Shower Curtain.
This wall mirror from IKEA.
These Paris-motif Kitchen Towels from Sur la Table.
