Travel Page: Antibes, France

At last: all about Antibes! For anyone who has been keeping up with my travelogue of my trip to Europe this spring, this was the next stop (links to the other places I visited are below). From Provence, we took the high speed train to Antibes—a gorgeous coastal spot in the South of France, just past Cannes. After checking into our hotel, meandering through the streets, and finding a delicious cafĂ© for an al fresco lunch, I already knew: this would be my favorite spot of the entire vacation. Here's why...

Bits of the Weekend

How was your July 4th holiday weekend? Sorry I didn't get a chance to post before heading off to Massachusetts! The extra days off were so lovely and restful—and after Hurricane Arthur passed through New England, we were left with one of the most gorgeous weekends of the year. On Saturday, my parents and I headed up to Plum Island on the North Shore next to Newburyport. It was lovely—no greenhead flies, either, thanks to the breeze! We rounded out the weekend with these awesome sparklettes

How did you spend the holiday?

Take a dip

Now that it's officially summer, I keep daydreaming about escaping the city heat and spending as much time as I can by the ocean—or poolside. For the days when I can't get out of town, this water series by Max Wanger seems like the perfect alternative. Just looking at these photos, I instantly feel cooled off and refreshed.

It's the best antidote to New York City heat waves, don't you think?

PS: More wall art.
PPS: More Max Wanger.

Greenport weekend

On the last week of August, I'm rewinding to a few weeks back—Matt and I escaped for a beach weekend in Greenport, New York, courtesy of our friends Erin and Brian (thanks, guys!). It also happened to be one of the most perfect summer weather weekends—crisp, breezy and blue skies. We hit the beach, we BBQed, and we spent a few hours at the Greenport Harbor Brewery. All awesome.

But the best part? Together, with our friends, we re-discovered the joy of Jenga. Do you remember this game? I used to play it all the time with my family, but forgot about it somewhere between the end of high school and now. It is a great game to play with friends—and high pressure, too!

Remember my trip to Greenport from last year?

Beaching it

Clearly, sunshine is on my mind (despite the clouds and rain in New York this week). I talked about the best beaches in New York last week—now, I can't help but point out this super cute sleeveless tunic from Madewell. Wouldn't it be the perfect bathing suit cover up out in the sand? I love the bright, rosy color. Plus, it looks so comfy and chic.

What do you wear over your swimsuit at the beach or pool?

Best beaches in New York

What is your favorite beach spot in New York? With summer fast approaching—and the hot, hot weather, too—I want to map out a few sandy destinations well in advance. I've been to Montauk, the North Fork and all the way to Long Branch in New Jersey (they're all gorgeous!), but I'm looking for something that's a bit more close by. An easy day trip, if you know what I mean.

Right now, Water Taxi Beach out on Governor's Island looks like the closest spot, especially with the free ferry to get there from Brooklyn. Have you been? Would love to hear your recommendations for places to soak up the sand and sun in New York!

PS—A pop up pool!

Beach holiday

Wouldn't it be nice if we could spend today lounging at the beach or by the pool? Since I can't, I'm going to channel Audrey Hepburn as she appears in the photo above. Doesn't she look relaxed? :)

Happy Wednesday!

Retro day at the beach

Now that summer has officially arrived, I can't stop thinking about the beach! The images above capture the joy, the fun, and the carefree relaxation of being in the sun and sand.

This weekend — en route to wedding #2 — I'll be driving through Mystic, Connecticut. I'm going to do everything I can to find a spare hour or two to stop and dip my toes in the ocean surf.

Do you have any beach vacations planned this summer? Even a day trip counts!

Scenes from the beach

I thought we all could use a bit of sunshine to help ease us into the week! These are a few shots that I took out in the North Fork of Long Island a couple of weeks ago. This secluded beach was the perfect spot to relax in the sand, and go for a quick dip, too. My friends and I had a picnic brunch before laying out our towels and taking in the view. The only downside? Having to leave! ;)

Winter daydream

Winter officially arrives next week, and I must admit — I'm dreaming of summer warmth and the sand. It's not that I hate snow, but when it gets dark in New York at 4:45 p.m., I can't stop thinking about those long summer days. What do you do to get through the winter months? Are you a snow bunny or do you love the hot, summer heat?

Sur la plage

You know me — when the summer sun shines, I'm always wishing for a day at the beach! :)

Gone swimming

I'm back! My dear readers that live in New York, did you survive the heat wave last week? It looks like the humidity is arriving in the city a bit early this year. As a result, I can't stop thinking about the beach! But if I can't go swimming, the photos above are the next best thing. I love photographer Julie Chamton's colorful ocean shots from Egypt (images 1 and 3), not to mention Marc Loyon's photo of San Sebastian in Spain. Talk about serenity now. What's your favorite beach in the world?

Beach day

Today marks the first day of winter in New York, but don't you kinda sorta wish you could still play at the beach? Check out these adorable shots of Princess Grace Kelly of Monaco. Such style and beauty, even with the salty ocean breeze in her hair!

Puppy love

This photo from bawkbawk combines two things I love the most. (1) Puppies and (2) The beach.

Looks like this guy had a tough day.
