You guys: I've always talked about my need to use a paper planner, even in this digital age. I think I've finally found the perfect one. It's called the Day Designer by Whitney English. I can thank Instagram for my discovery of it. I saw a post about it one day over at Chirps & Cheers, an Oklahoma-based blog, with a note to call and reserve one right away because of how quickly it would sell out. Call to reserve? For a planner? I was super intrigued. After a fair amount of Googling, I decided to go for it. (I mean, just read this.) There is space to organize your calendar, your to-do lists, your short- and long-term goals—everything. Plus, it's so pretty!
The August 2014-August 2015 edition of the planner begins today and I can't wait to start penciling things in.
What kind of calendar do you keep?

Lace and Chambray for Spring
A few weeks ago, I did a deep dive into my closet to get a jump start on my spring cleaning. After weeding through (and bringing several pieces to Good Will), I figured I deserved a treat! I fell in love with this pretty dress from Brooklyn Industries. How gorgeous is the combination of lace and chambray? The material is so delicate and lightweight—perfect for a warm spring or summer day. I bought it in blue, but the pink is also really nice.
How about you? Have you done any shopping for spring?

Keeping track of time
Yes, 2013 is still several months away, but if you love Rifle Paper Co.'s Cities Calendar as much as I do, you'll have to snag it now. Each month features a hand-painted map of 12 different cities from around the world. It's the perfect way to daydream about international travel all year long. :)
What kind of calendar do you keep? Are you old-school, writing everything down, or do you keep track of your schedule digitally?

Color coding at home
What do you do to organize the books and magazines you keep in your home? I've blogged about the number of magazines I keep in my New York-sized apartment before, but right now, I just keep them all in neat piles under my bed. What a clever idea to color code my collection based on the magazine's binding. The bookshelf idea is pretty cool, too.
Any other ideas? Would love to hear your suggestions!

How to: Organize the Chaos
This past weekend, I was in an organizing state of mind. I'm generally neat, but I always have piles of clutter that pop up around my room and my apartment. So, on Saturday, I took inspiration from Pippa at Sous Style — don't you envy her organizing system and pristine apartment above? I especially love her groceries-to-buy list (found a similar one here) and her fantastic technique to photograph the shoes she owns and stick it to the side of the box.
What's your favorite DIY organization trick? Would love your tips and suggestions as I continue my attempt to streamline my home!

How to: Keep a List
Are you a list-maker? How do you maintain your lists? Do you use special paper — a notepad, a journal — or are you more modern with your organization, typing thoughts into your iPhone or iPad? I love that Melanie from You Are My Fave is going to be sharing her lists each week. It's so
interesting to know how other people add order to their lives!
Evaluating my own habits, it seems I maintain lists in a variety of ways. I have a master to-do list word doc, where I type short- and long-term goals. Throughout the week, I accumulate a series of post-its with notes, and scribble additional random thoughts in a Moleskin journal that I carry in my bag. I also love using the Snow & Graham notepads pictured above. Come Sunday, I filter everything together into my master word doc in order of priority. A bit crazy? Yes, of course. But it's a method that works! :)
Tell me — how do you stay organized? What is your most efficient trick?

A planner perspective
Two things you should know about me: 1) I love to plan. 2) I'm old-school about my planning. Even though I have an iPhone — and for the previous five years, a Blackberry — I still prefer to carry a large planner, where I can write everything in (using pencil, not pen!). Maybe that's why I love the planner above from Laurel Denise. It seems to offer the perfect set-up with ample room to write and jot down notes of all kinds. What is your preference? If you keep a date book, do you prefer a hard copy or electronic version of your plans?

Clothes call
How organized is your closet? It's finally time to switch mine over from summer to fall, but this season, it's about more than that. I need a new system for uncovering the outfits I want to wear. The wardrobe above is my inspiration — a minimalist approach in a New York-sized apartment seems the smartest way to go. Any advice before I take this project on over the weekend? Tell me — what do you do to continuously keep your closet in tip top shape?

The art of organization
Do you consider yourself to be an organized person? I definitely tend to be more organized than not — I feel better going to sleep when things have been properly prepped and arranged for the day ahead, as crazy as that may sound! This may be why I love the images above. Quite an interesting take on organization and creating a method to the madness. :)
