Flavors of the week

Memorial Day has come and gone, and the humidity is on in New York. On the steamiest of days, what's your favorite frozen treat? This past Sunday, I enjoyed a classic near home — Doc Davis' ice cream in Pepperell, Massachusetts. Then, this week, I splurged again, this time opting for sorbet (one scoop of lime, one scoop of raspberry from Eli's on the Upper East Side). Both are refreshing, and signs of summer, too. :)

Ice cream or sorbet—which one do you prefer? Flavor recommendations? Share them here!

Steve's Ice Cream

Maybe it's because my dad's name is Steve and I'm from Massachusetts, but I'm pretty eager to check out Steve's Ice Cream, now open in two locations in New York. Originally founded in Somerville, Massachusetts in 1973, Steve's was the first place to custom blend ice cream flavors by hand, mixing in candies, cookies, fruits and nuts. The original shop closed in the mid-90s, but former scooper David Stein is bringing the ice cream back —  this time to New York. With flavors like Blackberry Honey and Mexican Chili Chocolate, who could resist?
