Is anyone watching The Affair on Showtime? It filmed all summer right in front of our apartment in Brooklyn, so Matt and I decided to check it out. Now, I'm totally hooked—and since I'm basically watching it in real time (instead of binge watching at the end of the season like a normal person), I have to wait with baited breath each week for a new episode to air. ;)
Here's the gist: The show is about a Brooklyn family who spends their summer vacation at their in-laws' estate in Montauk. The dad/husband (played by Dominic West) meets a married waitress (played by Ruth Wilson) and there's a spark...dun dun dun. (I promise, I'm not giving anything away!) One of my favorite parts about the show is the supporting cast which includes Maura Tierney and Joshua Jackson. Anyways, it's intense! I don't think I've yelled at the TV this much in a long, long, long time. :)
Are you watching this show? Any other fall TV you're newly addicted to? Would love to know!
PS: In case you're hesitant to commit, The Affair has already been renewed for season 2!

The prettiest plaid scarf
How cute is this pink and purple and black and white Madewell scarf for fall? I'm in love! It looks so cozy, too. This past weekend, we had warm late season temps, but I know that chilly days are coming. They would be so much more manageable if I knew I could wrap myself in something pretty like this!

October Page: A Toast!
Happy October! September came and went so fast, don't you think? For me it was a total blur, filled with birthdays and family and travel. So fun! But there's something comforting and cozy about October.
Here, my favorites about this month:
- Purple New York City sunsets
- Apple picking excursions (and maybe a corn maze!)
- Fresh flowers, like pretty yellow mums, at the farmers market
- All the little kids (and adults) trick or treating on Halloween
What do you love most about October? Would love to hear your favorite things!

Coat shopping
So, this time around, I'm trying to shop smart. I need a new fall coat. And to put the pressure on, over the summer, I tossed the gorgeous, thread-bare one from Ann Taylor that I've owned for almost 10 years. (Trust me, it was a classic!) I've ordered two options to try: The royal blue one above—coincidentally, also from Ann Taylor—and this soft pink one from Lucy Paris.
Early thoughts? Would love to know if there's one you love more!

Books Page: Fall Reads
Follow my blog with Bloglovin
What are you reading this fall? I have quite a few books in rotation right now, but the titles above are next on my list:
• I'm a fan of Girls (and totally adore Lena Dunham's tweets), so I'm curious to see what she talks about in her memoir Not That Kind of Girl, due out this month. Here's an excerpt, in case you missed it.
• Amy Poehler's memoir—called Yes, Please—hits shelves late October. She's such a funny, brilliant lady. I can't wait to read her thoughts and advice on life.
• Last, there's Gone Girl, a title I can start now since it's been out for quite some time! But with the movie due out in a few weeks (here's the trailer), the pressure is on. I definitely want to read the book before watching the Ben Affleck flick.
Now, you go: What books are you excited about right now?

A hilarious take on marriage
Are you watching Judy Greer's new show? It's called Married, and it offers a quirky, hilarious (and sometimes touching) portrayal of life after 'I do.' Greer is paired with Nat Faxon, who you might remember from Ben & Kate or The Way, Way Back. I love their chemistry, and the deadpan sense of humor they apply to so many scenarios and moments in their married lives.
If you haven't seen it, check out the trailer here, and if you have, I'd love to know what you think!
PS: The show that made me love Judy Greer the most.

Pretty purses for fall
I'm long overdue for a new fall bag, and I can't decide which one to get! I've carried a pretty dark gray one from Kate Spade for the past year, and I love it, but I think I'm ready for a color change. Here's what I like:
- This hyper pink number from Kate Spade Saturday. The shoulder strap is detachable. Two looks in one!
- Something that's a bit more neutral: the Amorous Satchel from Rebecca Minkoff in Tortoro (a blush tone). I like the size of this one—it could totally fit my new planner, don't you think?
- I also like this hobo style from Sarah Jessica Parker's Nordstrom collection. It's called the New Yorker, and I love the new fall color palette.
Do you have a go-to style of bag you love? Or a brand you trust and go back to again and again? Would love your input on this!

Cutie booties from Madewell
I have been on the hunt for a while now for a cute pair of booties to wear this fall. My struggle is that the leather always seems to gap around my ankle, which produces an odd fit. That's why I was thrilled to discover the above pair from Madewell—the Lonny Boot comes with a strap, and a bit of stretch, too. I'm in love!
Do you rock booties or traditional boots in the fall? Or both?

Chilly days
It's official: Fall has arrived in New York. More than fall, actually—we went from 70ish degrees on Monday to the mid-50s today. Plus, rain! And gusts of wind! I wasn't prepared at all. In fact, I dropped my tan trench off at the dry cleaners, thinking I was good without it for the next 3-4 days. Bad move! But yes, I really do think that yesterday was the last day I could comfortably get by wearing a dress without any tights.
How about you? Have you busted out your stockings yet? :)

Fairview Farm corn maze
Have you ever gone to a corn maze? Last weekend, Matt and I made a pit stop on the way back from our weekend in Montauk to check out Fairview Farm in Bridgehampton, New York. It's such a fun "fall in New England" experience. This place in particular is made up of 8 acres of corn, all 10 feet tall! It takes a little over an hour to complete the maze, and they give you clues to help you find your way.
Matt and I went to a corn maze in Queens last year—it's becoming a fall tradition for us!
What's your favorite fall thing to do?

P.S. Over the weekend, I finally watched I Don't Know How She Does It with Sarah Jessica Parker. Her character could totally use this mug! Have you seen the film?

The prettiest fall polish
How often do you switch up your nail polish color when you go and get a manicure? I prefer to pick a new color every season, switching shades of polish at the same time I rotate the clothes in my closet. :) Don't get me wrong—I love variety and trying new things, but I like having a go-to nail color at the ready. Enter Chanel Le Vernis Nail Colour in Orange Fizz. It's subtle, classic, and gorgeous. In the past, I've opted for darker shades (like this or this), but this pink and orange blend seems like the perfect way to seamlessly transition from summer to fall.

Horsing around
So, I'm sort of in love with this new fall sweatshirt from J.Crew. What do you think? It's a little bit silly, but you could dress it up or down. It reminds me of the Frenchie sweater I bought last year. I really thought I wouldn't get much use out of it, but in fact, I wear it all the time.

Fall in New York
I can't help posting a couple of snaps from the weekend in Central Park. Fall is almost over, but there are still a few lone trees that are standing strong and holding onto their leaves. The range of colors is absolutely breathtaking, especially when the sun hits the branches just right. It's hard to believe that soon enough all these leaves will be gone, replaced by snow!
Did you do any end of season leaf peeping this weekend? If yes, where did you go?
More fall here and here and here.

October Page: A toast!
Happy Birthday October! After traveling for three weddings, I'm officially back in New York (posts about Ireland and Paris to come next week). The best part? Fall arrived while I was away! Sure, I love September, but October is when this season really comes into it's own. The things I love the most about this month? Costume planning for Halloween, going apple picking, warming up with savory tomato soup and grilled cheese. Oh, and baseball playoffs! I may be a Red Sox fan, but I'm rooting for the SF Giants this year (more Buster Posey, please!).

September Page: A toast!
Wow, September already! This summer sure did fly by. What do you love most about this month? There are so many lovely things about September—the first sight of foliage, the arrival of sweater weather, the return of fall TV. The air is crisper, and the evenings are a bit darker, which makes everything feel so cozy, and warm.

Fall fashion
I made the mistake of browsing in J.Crew on my walk home from work this week. It got me so excited for fall. Even though I'm not heading back to school, I always get that rush of a new beginning and a fresh start when I see crisp, new fall fashions in the windows of my favorite stores. It inspired me to go home and start making a list of the staple items I need to update and invest in this fall. A navy jacket, a peplum dress, polka dots — all are on my list.
What trend are you most excited about for fall?

Meet Mona
Now that it gets dark out so much earlier in the day, I can't stop thinking about unique ways to add pops of color to my wardrobe to brighten things up. Case in point: the Mona pump. I love the variety of shades it comes in, especially the pink suede. How would you assess your fall/winter wardrobe? Is it filled with neutrals or lots of color?

Cider Week
On Sunday, Shalah, Christian, Matt and I checked out A Hard Cider Revival, the kick-off event to Cider Week in New York. I don't know about you, but when these crisp, October days arrive, I'm instantly reminded of why I love fall in New York. We sipped, we sampled, we savored the taste of different ciders from places located up and down the east coast. My favorite was the Sweet Stayman from Foggy Ridge in Virginia. So light and refreshing!
What do you love most about fall? Is there a fall tradition that you make sure never to miss?
