I've never been much of a breakfast person, but lately I've been starting the day with a pink lady apple. Have you ever had this type? It is so deliciously sweet and crisp—perfect for spring. It's also changed my opinion of apples, which, to be honest, I've never really craved as a snack. Now, it's all I want! I find myself scouting the apple sections of all the green markets in my neighborhood, hoping to find a pink lady or two to buy.
With my new-found love, I've also discovered a dessert recipe I want to try for Pink Lady Crisp. Doesn't it look good?

Matt and I have been on a real Popsicle kick lately. It's seems to be the best—and fastest—way to beat the heat! Now, thanks to a recent gift of Popsicle molds, we've decided to attempt to make our own. This recipe for French 75 Popsicles—which includes champagne, gin, lemon juice, and simple syrup—caught our eye. It sounds so yummy and refreshing, right?
We're going to give the recipe a try this weekend. I'll let you know how it goes!

With this New York heat wave, I'm constantly on the hunt for something refreshing to sip or eat. Macarons are perfect for summer and such a sweet, light bite. Especially if the flavor is lemon! Leave it to Rue magazine to provide an easy recipe so that you can make them yourself. Learning how to make my own macarons is something I've wanted to try for a while now—despite my limited ability when it comes to baking.

My dear readers, I'm so sorry for the radio silence last week! My sister came to town, and the days that followed were a bit of whirlwind with everything else. But I had so much fun showing her around my new neighborhood. In addition to seeing a Broadway show, going to Brooklyn Bowl, and more, we ended up on a 'sweet' tour of Cobble Hill. There are so many dessert places here (and nearby) to enjoy! We had a cupcake from One Girl Cookies; a hot cocoa from The Chocolate Room; a glazed doughnut from Dough (picked up at the Brooklyn Flea); and strawberry shortbread from Stinky Bklyn.
Sugar overload? Yes. Would we go back to each place and do it again? Absolutely. :)

A pre-holiday night out in New York! Since Matt is traveling to Australia to see his family for New Year's, we celebrated the season a bit early with dinner at Apizz on the Lower East Side with friends. How delicious do the desserts above look? I was too busy eating, otherwise I would have taken shots of my main course — ravioli with brown butter and sage. Yum! I love the photo of Matt with his iPhone. Dinner was preceded by festive cocktails at Freemans. Such a fun (and flavorful) way to toast the holiday season and wish Matt bon voyage!
