Remember when I first mentioned Woody Allen's next film, starring Colin Firth and Emma Stone? It comes out in theaters this month! Even better, it now has a name—it's called Magic in the Moonlight—and looks so fun. It's about an Englishman (played by Firth) who hopes to uncover a possible swindler (played by Stone). It's set in the 1920s in the South of France—oh la la!
The clips I've watched make it look Great Gatsby-esque, at least in style. It comes out July 25th, so only a few more weeks to wait. :)

Other than Frances Ha, Iron Man 3, and Monsters University, I haven't seen too many movies in the theater this summer. But that's about to change this week. I mentioned Blue Jasmine before, but The To Do List and The Way, Way Back are two more coming-of-age summer flicks that I can't wait to see. In addition to the impressive reviews—and terrific casts—I love the pool-side, carefree charm of each one.

Have you seen the trailer for Woody Allen's next film, Blue Jasmine? It looks good—and definitely seems a bit heavier than his most recent work. Set in San Francisco, the cast includes Cate Blanchett, Alec Baldwin, Sally Hawkins (from Happy Go Lucky) and one of my favorite actors: Bobby Cannavale. I'm looking forward to watching it when it hits theaters this July.

As a huge Woody Allen, Emma Stone, and Colin Firth fan, you can only imagine my delight when I read the news that this trio would be uniting to film Allen's next project—in the South of France. The same cinematographer that shot Midnight in Paris is confirmed as well. Oh la la! Fingers crossed that this film will be as delightful as the last time Allen visited France on-screen.

Have you seen this hilarious interview with Woody Allen? Filmmaker Robert Weide asks Allen 12 questions as part of a sneak peek at his documentary featuring Allen, available on iTunes and Amazon now. I'm amazed that if he had to choose between sporting events or movies for the rest of his life, Allen says sporting events, based on the current film selection alone. What did you do to survive the snowy, wintery mix from last weekend? I cuddled up indoors and watched Manhattan Murder Mystery, one of the few Woody Allen films that I had never before seen. What a fantastic movie! It was such a treat to watch Diane Keaton and Woody pair up again to give a New York twist to a murder mystery plot. One of the best scenes is when the foursome (pictured above, including Anjelica Huston and Alan Alda) meet up late night at Woody's suggestion to discuss their number one suspect. "It's 1:30 a.m.? This is why we live in New York!" Have you seen the film? What are your favorite ways to get through a snowstorm (or hurricane)?

While there are many new plays that I can't wait to check out on Broadway this fall, I'm especially looking forward to Relatively Speaking, a show featuring three one-act comedies, all directed by John Turturro. Sure, Ethan Coen and Elaine May are in the mix, but I'm most excited about Woody Allen's "Honeymoon Motel". Previews of the show begin September 20th, which means I need to get my tickets now. I remember the first time I was introduced to the French filmmaker Jean-Luc Godard. I was just a freshman in college when I signed up to take a French Cinema class. Breathless was one of the first films we watched and oh! Je l'ai amié! Woody Allen on the other hand? I started with Annie Hall. Mighty Aphrodite was next. I immediately fell for his style and humorous take on love and relationships. The print above is the perfect reflection of my cinematic taste — what a clever and artful idea!

Is anyone as excited as me for the opening of Woody Allen's new film? His latest work — You Will Meet A Tall Dark Stranger — is set in London, a comedy starring Anthony Hopkins and Gemma Jones. I love the movie poster (pictured above), almost as much as I love his recent interview with Dave Itzkoff in the New York Times. The film opens in theaters this week.
