Since my Brooklyn apartment is completely unpacked, I've been starting to think about little design flourishes that won't break the bank. I love this temporary wallpaper from Hygge & West. It's so brilliant! Every time I go to invest in something nice for my apartment, I hem and haw—mostly because that's the problem: It's most likely a temporary spot. But this pretty wallpaper is the perfect solution. A way to add color and style—without messing with my security deposit.

Maybe it's because I recently spotted Keri Russell's adorable family two tables over from me at a restaurant in Brooklyn Heights, but I was thrilled to get a glimpse into her gorgeous Brooklyn home, courtesy of Elle Decor. The actress—and her carpenter hubby Shane—did all the work themselves. I love the rustic, minimalist look, not to mention all the natural light!
Keri's been everywhere lately. Besides her show The Americans, she has a new film coming out this summer called Austenland, that I can't wait to see.

A quick Brooklyn update: I'm starting to feel super settled in my new apartment. Yay! Now, I can focus a bit more on decorating, and adding the little touches that make every place feel like home. One detail I'm excited to add: House plants. Do you have any in your home? Our apartment gets a lot of natural light (which I love), but I want to pick plants that can endure that much sun. I'm thinking a dracaena would be a nice starter plant, but I'm only at the beginning of my research.

Recently, I decided that it's time for a mini-makeover of the office set-up I have in my apartment. Truthfully, I'm long overdue. I don't think I've updated this part of my home since I moved to New York nearly five years ago! The photos on my pinboard are dated, the majority of my contacts are filed in a rolodex, and quite simply, I'm running out of space. Yes, it's time for a mini-makeover, but where to start? I'm taking my cue from the home offices above. I love the minimalistic approach to each look, and how the fresh, colorful flowers brighten the entire room.

I'm starting to contemplate a Brooklyn move, and as I do, I can't help thinking about three words: more outdoor space. When I lived in Boston, my best friend (and neighbor across the street!) had a private deck that was attached to her tiny studio in Beacon Hill. It made all the difference in city living—to have the opportunity to step outside and get some fresh air, all without leaving the comfort of your own home.
