If I Could Turn Back Time

Mira Sorvino and Lisa Kudrow in Romy and Michele's High School Reunion.

This weekend marks a pretty major milestone — my 10-year high school reunion. My thoughts on the occasion? I'm going to defer to a cliche: Where has the time gone?

I will admit, I'm excited to go back. I had a good time in high school, and my graduating class of 96 students means one thing: I knew the majority of my classmates quite well. That said, other than the occasional friend request on Facebook, I've lost touch with most. I talk to my prom dates from both junior and senior years, and I keep up with my good friend Lauren that I first met in fourth grade. Other than a few others here and there, that's really about it.

But maybe all the reminiscing this weekend will spark re-connections with friends from the past? In less than 24 hours, it seems I'll find out.

Have a great weekend!

Boston, You're My Home

The Celtics, Game 5.

Today's post is about one thing — a short pause for the Bruins and the Celtics. Boo. Yah.

Sex is Back!

Jason Lewis in New York Resident.

Hubba hubba! Check out the latest issue of New York Resident, featuring the oh-so-gorgeous Jason Lewis, aka Samantha Jones' love interest Smith Jerrod in Sex and the City 2. Jason talks about shooting in New York, and the $100 cab ride he once took to the Lower East Side.

Inquiring minds want to know — will you see the next installment of Sex when it opens in theaters on May 27th?

Baby Love

Striped Blanket Friend from Giggle.

Last night, I visited a friend in Brooklyn who recently gave birth to the most adorable twin boys. To celebrate her momentous occasion, I popped into Giggle — my go-to spot for baby gifts on the Upper East Side — and picked out this Striped Sun Hat and matching Blanket Friend. They're each part of Giggle's own Better Basics line. I bought two sets for the twins, one in orange and one in navy blue. Can't you just picture the cuteness as they stroll down the street!?

Breaking Up is Hard To Do

Daryl Wein and Zoe Lister-Jones in Breaking Upwards.

If you're looking for something upbeat, this film is not the way to go. That said, Breaking Upwards is certainly worth a watch. Set in New York, it's about a young couple that, after four years of co-dependency, decide it's time to go their separate ways. They do so by strategizing their own break-up. Ouch. Yes, it's a bit painful to watch at times, but the film's authentic portrayal of New York is quite beautiful, and the variety of cringe-worthy dating scenes brought front and center by on-screen couple Daryl Wein and Zoe Lister-Jones offer some of the film's best laughs.

What do you think? Will you check it out? If you do, let me know. It's playing now at the IFC Center in New York.

Bye-Bye Betty, Hello Broadway

Vanessa Williams on stage in Sondheim on Sondheim.

Wilhelmina Slater, oh, how I miss thee! Good thing your alter ego, Vanessa Williams, can be seen on stage in Sondheim on Sondheim. That is the Broadway musical I'm dying to see next.

In the mean time, this weekend, I’m going to see the polar opposite of a musical tribute to Stephen Sondheim: Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson, playing now at the Public Theater. The New York Times raved about it, so I’m sure it will be fun. But Vanessa, take note, you are next on my list.

Have a great weekend!

Going to the Chapel

Shannon in her wedding dress by Jenny Yoo.

Few things in life are as picture perfect as a wedding, but when the bride-to-be also happens to be your best friend, the stakes are raised. Here's a stunning shot of my friend Shannon on her wedding day, taken just a few moments after she first put on her dress. I love how happy she looks — not to mention, how special it was for me to be the only one privy to her first few seconds of excitement and joy.

What’s your favorite wedding photo? Who took it? For more pictures of Shannon and Randy’s big day, check out this post from Tim Boyles, their official photographer. (A hint: the photo that references the Maid of Honor? That's me!)

Spring Showers

The Smoldering Hues Shower Curtain from Anthropologie, $118.

I always fantasize about gorgeous shower curtains for my apartment, and in my opinion, this one would be the perfect fit. It's so colorful and cascading and voluminous — if I bought it, my 15-minute shower would no doubt increase to 20.

Hats for Sale

The Kentucky Derby, 2010 (photo by Velo Steve, Flickr.com).

I'm not much of a hat girl, but — inspired by this weekend's Kentucky Derby — I started considering some of the style possibilities should I choose to wear one. What's more, as someone who is quite fair-skinned, I’m fairly confident that my summer sunscreen bill would also be reduced, making the benefits of a fashionable hat two-fold.

Here, a couple of my favorites for 2010:

The Julia Hat
Eugenia Kim for Target

The weekend's Derby also reminded me of a great event from my days in Boston: check out the Party in the Park.

Doe a Deer

My necklace from Pinkyotto.

This weekend, I splurged. Where? At Pinkyotto in Soho. On Friday night to be exact. Why? Because when I tried on this sterling silver necklace with a baby deer charm, I knew I had to take it home.

As it turns out, there are quite a few options when it comes to charm necklaces featuring deer. For example, this one from RJCharms on Etsy. So cute!
